Riviera Maya, Mexico – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine
Adding yet another award to its collection, Grand Velas Riviera Maya recently received a 2010 SpaFinder Readers’ Choice Award. Voted among the Top Ten Best Spas for Water Sports by the prestigious company’s readers, Spa Grand Velas Riviera Maya features a signature hour-long Water Journey built around eight specially designed water-based facilities with a personal spa valet to provide guidance. The spa also specializes in signature treatments inspired by ancient cultures from around the world. “A Readers’ Choice Award is a remarkable achievement,” said Susan Ellis, president of SpaFinder. “There are over 15,000 destination, resort and hotel spas around the world, and to be singled out by our readers is a tremendous honor.”
“We are especially proud that just two years after opening we not only meet but surpass our guests’ expectations,” said Spa Director Leticia Fernandez. “After recently receiving Virtuoso’s 2010 “Best Spa” in the world, we are incredibily honored to receive a Readers’ Choice Award from SpaFinder, the global spa resource that connects millions of wellness-focused consumers with spas worldwide.” The $15 million architecturally striking spa at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya is inspired by the jungle and natural water pools of the Yucatan Peninsula. Mexican Architects Ricardo Elias and Alexis Elias of EliasElias AR preserved the stone, plants and streams specific to the Riviera Maya landscape and incorporated them into the curved, organic design of the two-level, 89,000 square-foot spa. Spa Grand Velas Riviera Maya features 40 treatment rooms and suites complemented with Mexican and Balinese artwork and furnishings.
