Sommelier Jean Luc Le Du Creates Exclusive Wine Program for Flatiron District Condominium, Alma

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

New York – Sommelier Jean Luc Le Du, winner of the highly coveted Sommelier of the Year Award by the food and wine industry’s top organization, the James Beard Foundation, has teamed up with developer Beck Street Capital to create an exclusive wine package for the residents of Alma, a new luxury condominium building in New York’s Flatiron District that will feature custom interiors by Roman and Williams and a selection of special lifestyle amenities designed for the discerning buyer.

Le Du, the former chief sommelier at New York’s Restaurant Daniel and owner of Le Du’s Wines in TriBeCa, has designed a comprehensive package for Alma’s residents titled, “Le Du’s Wines pour Alma.” The package includes: a seasonal case of select wines delivered to each of the 13 homes; “The Alma 100,” a private collection of hand-picked wines for Alma; and exclusive sommelier services to consult on wine pairings and suggest new, popular and hard-to-find wines.

Alma will provide full-floor loft-style living to design aficionados with a blend of classical architectural details and modern design aesthetics by Roman and Williams. Located at 30 West 21st St., Alma is a conversion of a 1907 neo-Renaissance landmarked loft building that will contain 11 stunning three-bedroom floor-through residences, a triplex penthouse, and an adjacent newly constructed six-story townhouse.  The custom-designed homes will range from 3,000 to 4,500 square feet, with prices ranging from approximately $6 million to $10 million.

“We want to offer buyers at Alma access to the best in everything and that includes the finest and hardest-to-find wines,” said Kevin Comer, senior managing director of Beck Street Capital. “Our buyers expect nothing but the best in all aspects of their lives and we are creating a full lifestyle package that will meet their high standard of living with Alma’s haute design and luxurious amenities.”

“I’m thrilled to bring my passion for wine to Alma’s residents and provide a selection of wines that embody superior taste,” said Le Du. “With this exclusive package, wine connoisseurs will have access to rare appellations and be the first to hear about new and difficult-to-find wines.”

“Le Du’s Wines pour Alma” will be available summer 2009, when Alma opens to residents.
