In the midst of Olympic mania, The Stafford London by Kempinski encourages a momentary respite by offering guests a way to enjoy some quiet countryside splendor while remaining right at the city’s center. The legendary Stafford London has arranged a special summer extravagance: the Deluxe Picnic in the Park Package.

From a selection of 105 individually decorated rooms and suites, guests with the overnight package will get to choose from three quintessential English interiors. The traditional rooms in the hotel’s Main House, former residence of Lord and Lady Lyttelton, echo the grace of Victorian London, while the charming rooms in the Carriage House, a former stable that was home to the thoroughbreds of nobility, embody quaint and warm countryside elegance. Most recently, the rooms of The Stafford Mews offer guests a luxurious take on contemporary London.

As tempting as it might be to remain within the captivating walls of the suite, guests will have a personally customized itinerary prepared upon arrival. Most remarkably is a gourmet picnic at a picturesque spot in either Green or St. James’s Park. After a leisurely stroll through the scenic gardens, guests will arrive upon a lavishly prepared picnic with personal butler on hand, ready to attend to every need throughout the course of the evening. The picnic meal is prepared to match personal preference with classic English treats like freshly made salmon quiche, house pickles, bourbon-glazed English ham and homemade Quail’s scotch eggs, as well as freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam straight from The Lyttelton kitchen.

“It certainly is a gamble this year to offer any package that includes al fresco dining,” says Leon Baum, The Stafford’s general manager. “Being a born and bred Brit, this is something I have grown up with and who cannot remember those days, when your parents quickly had to improvise and you had your promised picnic in the back of the car or on the sitting room floor. We are certainly ready to offer exactly the same, if the weather does not play ball – or maybe enjoying the picnic in the American Bar, with some lovely Pimm’s, might be a little bit more comfortable.”

A luxury hotel with a pervasive sense of timelessness, The Stafford London is prized as a haven of opulence and tradition. The Deluxe Picnic in the Park Packages includes luxury accommodations, full English breakfast and a scrumptious gourmet picnic (starts at $866 for Junior Suites and $1,076 for Master Suites).
