At the heart of Knightsbridge, The Capital Hotel’s Head Barman Cesar da Silva – a leading authority on whisky and the youngest Keeper of the Quaich – is hosting a six-course dinner. In conjunction with Whyte and Mackay, each course is paired with one of Cesar’s chosen whiskies, selected to bring out the flavours of each dish.

The price, £125 per person, includes 5 courses, each expertly matched with a chosen whisky and Cesar’s fascinating explanatory talk about each wee dram. The event takes place in the private dining room of Michelin starred Outlaw’s at The Capital on the 1st floor of the hotel.

The evening begins with a selection of canapés served with a new whisky cocktail invented by Cesar to mark the occasion. The starter and entrée will be accompanied by Fettercairn 24 yrs old and The Dalmore King Alexander respectively. English cheese, paired with The Dalmore 12 yrs old, will precede a delicious pudding enhanced by a classic Diurach’s Own Jura 16 yrs old. The evening will be perfectly rounded off with coffee, petit fours and The Dalmore Valour as a digestif.

The Capital and World Whisky Day encourage responsible drinking: for guests who choose not to drive, Knightsbridge tube is barely a minute’s walk from the hotel. Alternatively an overnight package for two sharing a double room including the World Whisky Day Dinner and a generous Continental breakfast the next day is offered from £499 per night. Cesar also offers regular Whisky and English cheese pairings, priced from £40 per person (3 pairings and a cocktail for a minimum of two people) in order to share his passion for the drink with novices and connoisseurs alike.
