Four Seasons Hotel Chicago Unveils New Facilities

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

For 20 years, Four Seasons Hotel Chicago has been the premier destination for storybook weddings, memorable galas and expectation-exceeding meetings. As the hotel celebrates two decades at 900 N. Michigan Ave, it builds on that special event tradition with the unveiling of a new $6 million Grand Ballroom and event space featuring an exclusive Bridal Lounge designed by the renowned Pierre Yves Rochon.

Rochon – known for his beautiful interiors at Four Seasons George V in Paris – enhanced the hotel’s elegant interiors with custom-designed carpets, patina millwork paneling, silk wall coverings and marble floors using palettes of celadon green, light gold and cream to create a stunning backdrop to any event. Many of the hotel’s fine classic furniture pieces were restored to complement the design, and art accessories were selected in a mix of classical and contemporary pieces.

New to the ballroom is the exclusive Bridal Lounge – an intimate suite adjacent to the ballroom featuring a luxurious sofa and ottoman, a 9-foot-tall tri-fold mirror with step stool, a spacious storage closet and a separate powder room. It’s the perfect retreat where the bride can put on those finishing touches while enjoying quality time with her family or bridal party.

The 12,500 eighth floor ballroom and event space features a 7,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom that can accommodate events ranging from 100 to 500 guests. The renovation also includes a new state-of-the art sound system, energy-efficient lighting, carousel coat check and electronic screens for displaying event times, information and personal greetings. In addition, the hotel’s Grand Staircase – which has served as the backdrop for countless wedding photos – was refreshed with new custom carpeting. Rochon left his signature mark atop the Grand Staircase with a ceiling featuring a sky-blue finish and majestic white clouds.

The redesign is part of a multi-million dollar renovation that began in 2007 with the restyling of the hotel’s guest rooms and executive suites by Hirsch Bedner Associates featuring contemporary designs inspired by 1940s French décor, expansive marble bathrooms, and modern amenities such as LCD flat screen televisions, wireless Internet and iHome clock radios.

Renovations are scheduled to continue throughout 2009 with redesigns of the hotel’s one and two bedroom suites and specialty suites. Located in the 900 North Michigan Avenue building, Four Seasons Hotel Chicago is ideally close to Chicago’s business and financial centers offering convenient indoor access to the upscale 900 shops. The hotel has recently been awarded the 2009 Mobil Travel Guide Five-Star award and the AAA 2009 Five Diamond award.
