Fairmont Opens Palace-Rivaling Hotel in India

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

Jaipur, India – Reported By Coleman Bentley for Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine

Swathed in pink terracotta for the arrival of the Prince of Wales in 1876, India’s Jaipur, or “pink city,” can now call itself home to burgeoning hoteliers Fairmont Hotels & Resort’s very first India location; a hotel fit for kings in a city literally built for them.

Poised to welcome its first guests on August 9th, 2012, Fairmont Jaipur has opened its arms to India’s famously opulent “Golden Triangle” region with 255 guest rooms and suites. Replete with the services and amenities of Fairmont Gold, a widely-emulated luxury travel experience, Fairmont has outfitted each room with bathrooms as ornate as they are spacious. Glazed sliding-door entryways with intricate, patterned screens lead one onto mesmerizing floors laced with stars and diamonds. It is tempting to say you may never want to leave the comfort of these tranquil baths.

The baths are only the beginning, however, as the rest of Fairmont Jaipur bursts forth with indulgent amenities and authentic regional atmosphere. Modeled after the intimate palaces of the Mughal Empire, the constructed-from-the-ground-up architecture elegantly arches and ebbs from room-to-room, providing the perfect backdrop for the hotel’s numerous drinking and dining venues. Inspired by the Mughal’s affinity for extravagant dining, Zarin (meaning “Golden” in the regional dialect) encourages guests to take a bite of ancient India, featuring classic Indian dishes accented with forward-thinking culinary twists, while Zoya offers hungry patrons all-day dining options spread across five-distinct eating environments. Those looking to wash-down the invigorating Indian spices and kick-back before, after, and even between meals, needn’t look far, with Anjum tea lounge, Aza library bar, and even Cigar Diwan, a classic smoking lounge, occupying the elegant grounds.

Local entertainment rounds out the Fairmont Jaipur experience. Expected entertainment and relaxation options, such as dancing and spa treatments, exist for those looking for a taste of the familiar but it is the regional activities that truly stand-out. Witness expert falconry displays, climb upon the back of a gentle-giant for a game of elephant polo, and traverse local landmarks, such as the Jantar Mantar observatory, for a truly singular trip.

To celebrate their inaugural Indian venture, Fairmont Jaipur is offering the aptly-titled Seeing is Believing package. Available until October, 31st 2012 the package includes cultural activities like traditional folklore storytelling and a Rajasthan dance show, as well as children’s entertainment and a lighting ceremony. Double occupancy rates begin at just $180 (US).
