Design Miami/ Launches Worldwide VIP Travel Program

By Lauren Jade Hill

As we look forward to the December 2017 edition of Design Miami/, the celebrated arts showcase adds even more appeal to its cultural offering by launching a new VIP travel program in partnership with the luxury travel company Indagare. Through this new collaboration, Design Miami/ will curate and host a series of worldwide design tours throughout 2018.

Taking place in cities including Guadalajara, Venice, Helsinki and Santa Fe, each tour will draw on Design Miami’s extensive knowledge and relationships within the industry. Through this collaborative program, design enthusiasts will be able to experience architecture, art and collectible design found in private homes, museums, galleries and studios as they’re afforded access to Design Miami’s expertise outside of its twice-annual design fair. In each city Design Miami/ will endeavor to uncover up-and-coming designers, while also highlighting important design aspects and historical context.

The luxury travel members’ service Indagare then complements Design Miami’s insider knowledge by providing the expertise they’re celebrated for in curating tailor-made trips based on first-hand experience of the destination and connections to in-the-know residents. Designed to be a complete immersion, each three- to five-day tour will incorporate meals at local collectors’ homes, visits to dealers of rare folk art and design, and behind-the-scenes tours of important museums.

Commenting on the launch, Jen Roberts the CEO of Design Miami/ says: “The Design Tours represent our first foray into major programming outside the walls of our twice-annual fair as well as outside the contexts of Miami Beach and Basel. We could not be more excited to introduce this new, hands-on, unique approach to collecting in partnership with Indagare. This is a rare opportunity for collectors to intimately experience Design Miami/ in specialized and inspiring contexts around the globe.”

The founder and CEO of Indagare Melissa Biggs Bradley then adds: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Design Miami/ to create one-of-a-kind travel experiences for art and design lovers. Bringing together like-minded design lovers and the expertise of Design Miami/, these Design Tour/ journeys will not just open doors to special experiences and collections but they will allow for intimate meetings and spirited conversations between design aficionados.”

The program begins with a San Francisco tour in January 2018, before being hosted in Guadalajara and Mexico City in February. In May the design tour will be taking place in Venice, before moving to Basel in June, and Santa Fe along with Taos in July. September will see tours taking place in Brazil and Finland, then Miami is on the cards for December 2018.
