Contemporary Artists “Think Pink” During Exhibit at Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach. Sales to Benefit Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

Palm Beach, Florida – Palm Beach is proud to wear pink. From Lily Pulitzer prints to the interiors of some of the island’s foremost homes to the local architecture, the color pink is ubiquitous. Gavlak Gallery, one of Palm Beach’s foremost dealers of contemporary art, took a cue from the local color to present Think Pink at Four Seasons. The exhibition in the resort will showcase works by emerging and established artists from February 13 to March 16, 2010, in The Living Room.

Organized by art collector and curator Beth Rudin DeWoody, the exhibit investigates artists’ use of pink and how it acquires meaning in works ranging from photography to mixed media to sculpture. The show features 30 works by 23 artists, including Takashi Murakami, Peter Dayton, Rob Wynne, Carolyn Carr, Jose Alvarez and Will Ryman. Think Pink is an extension of a larger exhibit opening simultaneously at Gavlak Gallery, which is located on Worth Avenue. Partial proceeds from sales at both venues will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

From February 16 to March 16, 2010, a featured exhibition speaker, including Beth Rudin DeWoody, gallery owner Sarah Gavlak and Think Pink artists, will host Think Pink Tuesdays, a walk-through and discussion of the show. The walk-through starts at 4:00pm and guests are invited to arrive as early as 3:00pm to preview the show and sip featured cocktails, including pink ladies and cosmopolitans.

The Spa at the resort has also created two Think Pink treatments to celebrate the exhibit: Pink Body Bliss, a 50-minute full-body relaxation experience using organic pink sea salt to exfoliate, followed by a relaxing massage combining an organic blend of essential oils and pink grapefruit ($150.00); and Pretty in Pink, an 80-minute luxurious manicure and pedicure that includes a pink sea salt scrub, a hand and foot massage using a blend of pink grapefruit oil, and an application of Pretty in Pink nail polish ($120.00). A portion of the sales of featured cocktails and spa treatments will support Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
