Tuscany, Italy – Alain Ducasse’s luxury inn, L’Andana, celebrates Tuscany’s reputation as one of the world’s first and finest wine regions with the introduction of the Super Tuscans Package this summer. The Super Tuscans Package offers travelers and œnophiles an unforgettable epicurean experience, with the opportunity to visit some of Tuscany ‘s premier wine cellars including Ornellaia, Sassicaia and Michele Saita and Petra amid Tuscany’s tranquil beauty.
Formerly the Duke of Tuscany’s hunting lodge, L’Andana is situated on the 1,240 acre Tenuta La Badiola estate in the ancient seaside town of Castiglione della Pescaia in Tuscany . L’Andana features 33 spacious rooms and suites, Michelin-starred Trattoria Toscana restaurant, a 6,000 square foot ESPA spa, two outdoor pools, and breathtaking views of the property’s surrounding vineyards and olive groves. The property also sits near Castiglione’s famous beaches, which offer gorgeous views of the Elba and Giglio islands. L’Andana is happy to arrange excursions to the islands aboard the Viriella yacht or horseback riding tours throughout the Tuscan countryside. In addition, eight new, luxurious suites are being added to the property and will open in fall 2008.
The Super Tuscans package includes two days of visits and tastings at the famous cellars of Ornellaia, Sassicaia, Michele Saita and Petra. Tenuta dell’Ornellaia produces four critically-acclaimed wines:
Ornellaia, a blend made predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc; Le Serre Nuove;
Masseto and Le Volte, a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, in addition to many others. By contrast, only one wine is produced at Tenuta San Guido – the Sassicaia, which is almost universally recognized as the father of the “Super Tuscan” wine family. A visit to Petra, the ultra-modern estate designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, known for its expressive and intoxicatingly aromatic wines is also in store.
In addition, L’Andana’s Super Tuscan Package also includes dinner for two at Michelin-starred Trattoria Toscana, where Chef Christophe Martin serves traditional Tuscan food made with the highest quality local ingredients.
The fruit, vegetables and aromatic herbs, as well as the olive oil and wines are all grown, made, and bottled on the estate. At each day’s end, guests can retreat to one of the inn’s luxurious Deluxe Rooms. Designed by esteemed Italian architect Ettore Mochetti, each of the spacious guestrooms are decorated with refined Italian fabrics and antiques, adding to the hotel’s unique and rustic charm. A complimentary Tuscan breakfast is served each morning as well.
