The Mandrake

London, UK

Why we love it

Inspired by the medicinal properties of the plant after which it is named, this daring, unique and totally new hotel concept was converted from a RIBA award–winning building on Newman Street, Fitzrovia, and opened in September 2017. Here, you will find eclectic, vibrant interiors combined with carefully curated artwork, intriguing soundscapes and specially designed Azzi Glasser scents that further create an ambience that is intimate and intriguing at every turn. Choose to stay in one of The Mandrake’s 30 bedrooms, one of its three suites or the dramatic Penthouse. This exceptional accommodation is set across four floors, which rise up from the striking central outdoor courtyard. At the heart of The Mandrake is the Jurema bar with outdoor terrace, designed by world-renowned landscape architects Bureau Bas Smets. Jurema is a laid-back cabana affair surrounded by a lush, evergreen sanctuary of hanging passionflower and jasmine plants. The hotel’s Artist in Residence program covers all genres and mediums, from a tattooist to a perfumer, a renowned artist to a sculptor; the artists encourage interaction with VIP guests.
