The Silver Cloud Expedition is the most luxurious vessel in the cruise line’s expedition fleet. Towering prisms of ice and deep blue seas provide a majestic backdrop for close encounters with colonies of Adélie, gentoo and emperor penguins, and for astonishing sightings of minke and humpback whales as they soar out of the icy water. Journeying from Punta Arenas on the southern tip of Chile from November to February each year, the ship sails to the wild, windswept Falkland Islands and across the dramatic Drake Passage before reaching the white desert of Antarctica, where she navigates the Antarctic Peninsula and its volcanic rock islands before ending the return journey in Argentina’s southernmost town, Ushuaia.

The ship’s most sumptuous and spacious suite, this apartment comes with a living room and separate dining area, marble bathroom and walk-in wardrobe, plus a large teak deck accessed through floor-to-ceiling glass doors. The elegant suite has a serene color scheme of muted taupe and grey, and all the modern conveniences you’d expect to find in a luxury hotel. For even more space, the one-bedroom suite can be extended to two bedrooms by connecting to the neighboring Vista Suite. A stay in the Owner’s Suite comes with butler service.
On any cruise, you’re bound to spend a lot of time on board, so Silversea has made sure there’s always plenty to do. Relax with cocktails and live music in Dolce Vita cocktail bar, lie back in the heated bubbling whirlpools of the open-air pool deck and marvel at the passing scenery from Tor’s Observation Lounge. You can catch a presentation, lecture or screening in the Explorer Lounge, stop by the Panorama Lounge for afternoon tea, or retreat to Zagara Spa for facials, body wraps and massages before unwinding in the sauna and steam room.
The ship has not one, but four world-class restaurants. Go to The Grill for lava-stone cooking, in which stone sourced from volcanic rock is heated for you to cook meat, fish and vegetables at the table; dine at La Dame by Relais & Châteaux (the world’s southernmost Relais & Châteaux dining experience) to have fine wines paired with a tasting menu celebrating the world’s most prestigious wine regions; enjoy Italian cuisine on the terrace of La Terrazza; and head to The Restaurant for international plates using local ingredients such as Chilean sea bass.
Group shore excursions with expert guides take you to hike the rocky cliffs and see the rockhopper penguin rookery of New Island; venture onto the mainland of Antarctica at Paradise Bay; cruise past icebergs in Silversea’s Zodiacs; and kayak off the coast of Ushuaia.
