US citizens are rediscovering the majesty of their homeland this year with the great American road trip back in fashion. So much so that Montage Deer Valley is stepping into the game, offering ultra-luxe expeditions to the nearby Capitol Reef National Park.

Situated in pristine wilderness near Salt Lake City, Montage Deer Valley is usually enough of an escape for most guests. But the events of this year have convinced a number of Americans that now is the time to explore the plethora of natural wonders available to them. Montage Expeditions give guests a number of different opportunities to do just that.

The Great American Road Trip is the latest itinerary to be introduced by the resort, offering a unique one-day road trip on Scenic Byway 12, stretching between Capitol Reef National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park. Up to six guests are whisked away on a Private Air flight to the starting point 300 miles south of the resort where a luxury vehicle awaits.

From there, they cruise through one of the most scenic stretches of land, accompanied by a dedicated Montage Deer Valley Compass Sports Tour Guide who will point out breathtaking geological formations and rock art sites along the drive. There is time to stop at the most notable sites, such as the stunning Waterpocket Fold.

Gourmet Pit Stop

A road trip is only as good as its pit stops, and for that Montage Deer Valley has come up with the goods. Guests will stop for lunch at Hell’s Backbone Grill & Farm. Located in Boulder, Utah, one of the most remote towns in the US (it has a population of 226), this place has become its greatest tourist attraction.

The restaurant follows Buddhist principles and is committed to sustainability, environmental ethics, and social and community responsibility. Every ingredient is organic, locally produced and seasonally appropriate cuisine. Much of it is grown on its own private grounds. It has been a James Beard Award semifinalist in 2017, 2018, 2019, and is a nominee in 2020.

Other Montage Expeditions have proved a huge hit with guests in the past, including whistle-stop trips to Yellowstone National Park, the awe-inspiring Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.

The Great American Road Trip is available for up to six guests and is priced at $14,000.
