New York, NY – One of the most important exhibitions of contemporary Asian art, the 2nd annual Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York (ACAF NY), will be held from November 7-10, 2008, at Pier 92, 52nd Street and 12th Avenue, in New York City. More than 60 international galleries and non-profit organizations will show a wide range of contemporary work by artists from countries including China, Japan, Korea, India, Bangladesh, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. Much of the work, including paintings, sculpture, photography, works on paper, video and installations, will be on view for the first time in the U.S. The Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York is the only international art fair in New York dedicated exclusively to Asian contemporary art. Last year’s inaugural fair was hailed as a major success, providing collectors with an unusual opportunity to gain an overview of Asian art and see work by such internationally recognized artists as Zhang Xiaogang, Nam June Paik, Yue Minjun and Yayoi Kusama. An opening night preview will be held on the evening of November 6.
“After the strong critical success of last year’s fair, contemporary art collectors are marking November in their calendars,” noted Cristal Kim, Executive Director, Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York. “Demand for Asian contemporary art continues to soar with stunning growth in the field. As the first Asian contemporary art fair in New York, we are inspiring a vibrant dialogue about contemporary art from one corner of the world to the other while presenting some of the most important work on the market.”
A wide range of leading galleries from 13 countries will exhibit at the Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York. A full list will be available on www.acafny.com shortly.
