Mexico City Restaurants Ride High on the Elite Top 100

Pujol restaurant MexicoThe world of Mexican fine dining is celebrating this month as two of its finest restaurants make it onto Elite’s prestigious annual countdown.

The Elite 100 Restaurants – as revealed online on March 31 and in our latest edition – is a list of the top fine dining destinations in the world, as chosen by our jetsetting readers.

Making it into the upper echelons of the list this year are Bruno Oteiza and Mikel Alonso’s Biko, which rose seventeen places from number 49 to number 32 and the internationally acclaimed Pujol, which climbed three spots to take thirteenth place. Both restaurants are based in Mexico City.

The inclusion of these prestigious names once again this year comes as no real surprise. Pujol, widely considered the best restaurant in Mexico, is famed internationally for Enrique Olvera’s exceptional approach to traditional Mexican dishes.

At the restaurant, diners can enjoy meticulously crafted, wildly inventive dishes such as baby corn with chicatana ant, coffee and costeño chile and fish ceviche taco with beans and hoja santa as part of a totally unique culinary experience.

Meanwhile at Biko, diners are offered out-of-this-world Spanish and Mexican fusion, with a separate menu for both contemporary fare and traditional Basque dishes. For Mexico’s ever expanding fine dining scene though, this is surely only the very beginning.
