Whether a sumptuous bed, a spectacular view or service beyond compare, choose from our stunning selection

HOTEL RITZ MADRID

ROYAL SUITE, HOTEL RITZ MADRID

Inaugurated in 1910 by King Alfonso XIII, this opulent hotel has long tended to the whims of royalty.

The Ritz Madrid is strategically located in the Retiro district, opposite the world-renowned Prado. The leafy outdoor terrace is a popular venue for traditional Sunday brunch, followed by a leisurely stroll in the adjacent Retiro Park. The Goya Restaurant looks out across exquisite gardens and offers creative Basque cuisine by Chef Jorge González. A recognized destination for high society, the Ritz Golden Book records an extensive list of celebrity and royal guests.

TOP SUITE ROYAL SUITE

DInIng AT THE HOTEL RITZ MADRID

Why we love it: Silk damask and Florentine-style painted woodwork cover the walls, while delicate brass ornaments and a fine oriental Ming Dynasty vase adorn surfaces. Walk on Fábrica de Tapices carpets and gaze at the sparkling crystal chandeliers. The Royal Suite can also be connected with a twin bedded Deluxe Suite. There are limousine and 24-hour butler services.

  • Square footage: 1,765
  • Nightly rate: $7,450

HOTEL VILLA MAGNA

MASTER BEDROOM, HOTEL VILLA MAGNA

Given its unassuming granite façade, and its location only steps away from the exclusive Serrano and Ortega y Gasset shopping area, one would hardly suppose that Villa Magna’s top floor holds arguably the two most luxurious suites in Spain.

It is Villa Magna’s service and attention to detail that draws celebrity guests including, Roger Federer, Hugh Jackman and Sandra Bullock.

TOP SUITE REAL SUITE

REAL SUITE

Why we love it: With Thoma Urquijo’s sleek art deco interior and contemporary color scheme, the Real Suite provides guests with the experience of living in an authentic penthouse apartment. Located on the top floor, the suite has its own fitness and wellness area that includes a steam room. Enjoy a private dinner in the dining room, then while away the evening playing the baby grand piano or star gazing on the 1,300-square-foot private terrace. The suite has its own Turkish bath, Swiss hydrotherapy shower, butler service and state-of-the-art entertainment technology.

AC PALACIO DEL RETIRO

Located in the Golden Triangle, the Palacio del Retiro is within a stone’s throw of three world-class museums: the Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen Bornemisza.

The stunning aesthetics of this restored twentieth century palace, including its wrought iron staircase, original marble moldings and stained glass windows, have earned the building a Patrimonio Nacional (National Heritage) listing. Owner Antonio Catalan has designed the furniture himself in line with the building’s design aesthetic. Services include a personal shopper, private museum tours and a butler service.

TOP SUITE SUITE DELUXE

Why we love it: What really distinguishes the AC Palacio del Retiro from the AC Santo Mauro is its location. With the Suite Deluxe you can choose from exceptional views of both Calle Montalbán and Retiro Park. The suite has striking original moldings, large windows, a marble fireplace and wooden floors, and there is a fully equipped lounge and a two-person hydro-massage bathtub. The VIP experience is enhanced by a separate reception area and personalized air conditioning.

HOTEL PUERTA AMERICA

Hotel Puerta America is more of an architectural museum than a hotel.

Costing an estimated $100 million and taking three years to construct, each floor is the conception of a different world-famous architect, with contributions from Zaha Hadid and Ron Arad. In total, nineteen architecture and design studios were involved from thirteen different countries. Hotel Puerta America sits off the beaten track from many other luxury hotels, but is a convenient five miles from the Madrid-Barajas airport and one mile from the Auditorio Nacional de Música.

TOP SUITE PRESIDENTIAL SUITE

Why we love it: The contemporary and avant-garde presidential suites were designed by Jean Nouvel. These suites have a sliding panel system which enables guests to act as architect and restructure the space within the suite according to their own needs. Abstract photography by Roland Fleisher adorns the walls and ceilings, giving the impression that guests are sleeping beneath a turbulent Turner sky, and elongated windows provide panoramic views of the city lights. French Champagne, a VIP fruit basket and Oriol Balaguer chocolates are provided on arrival. Each bedroom has a walk in closet and light and window control panels and there is a guaranteed late checkout at 2pm. Supermodel Naomi Campbell and tennis ace Rafael Nadal have both stayed here.

HOTEL ÚNICO MADRID

GRAND SUITE, HOTEL ÚNICO MADRID

Nestled among Madrid’s most exclusive boutiques, Hotel Único’s décor is both grand and superbly executed.

Once a private noble home, the stark lines of the black and white checkered floor of this 19th century mansion are offset by the mirrored walls and large red ribbon art installation that cascades through it. The gourmet two-Michelin-star restaurant, led by chef Ramon Freixa, offers three tasting menus with à la carte dishes including turtle dove sausages and prawn cappuccino. For an intimate dining experience hire the private dining room with its elegant muted tree design wallpaper, which seats up to ten people.

TOP SUITE GRAND SUITE

Why we love it: The Grand Suite achieves an elusive balance between design and comfort. Savor the opulent contemporary aesthetic of this suite, with chic black panelled walls juxtaposed against classic polished oak floors. Soak in the generous whirlpool bathtub and enjoy an aperitif on the suite’s plush sofas. A pillow menu is provided and there are specific welcome products for children and babies. Designed by Italian company Sicis, the bathroom has intricate mosaic flooring and walls of glass and marble.

HOTEL ADLER

Situated on the intersection of distinguished thoroughfares Goya and Velázquez, Hotel Adler is within easy access of both Salamanca’s high end designer boutiques and the Art Triangle’s three world class museums.

The hotel is located in a refurbished nineteenth century building with attractive, small balconies on the façade. Designer Pascua Ortega has shown sensitivity in his approach to the décor; muted tones are enlivened by splashes of bold color. Carefully selected avant-garde art adorns the walls, including pieces by Chillida, Tápies and Joan Hernández Pijuan. Privately owned, the Hotel Adler is known for its attention to detail and conscientious service. Ask the front desk to arrange a chauffer driven car to guide you around the sites of Madrid.

TOP SUITE PRESIDENTIAL SUITE

Why we love it: The suite’s gentle palette creates a tranquil but also inspiring setting, as soft beiges and browns are vitalized by burnt orange soft furnishings. The bedroom has a king size bed and a fantastic 270 degree view of the city. The master marble bathroom is lit by natural light and has an elegant roll top bath. The living room has both a dining and sitting area with a 40 inch LCD TV and MP3 sound system. Be sure to make the most of the hotel’s masseuse and babysitting service.

HOTEL URBAN

Unlike many other design hotels in Madrid, Hotel Urban carries a five-star Gran Luxe designation. Whether it’s the 18K gold tile lining the staircase or the Balinese sculptures next to the mini-bar, priceless art fills the rooms and the main areas.

The diverse artworks are consolidated by fearless interior design, with touches of black leather, steel mesh and chrome. Most importantly, the focus on unusual aesthetics is not to the detriment of the hotel’s luxury services, which are of the highest quality. For oysters and cocktails head to the Glass Bar. With its striking chandelier imported from Morocco and Philippe Starck’s transparent chairs, the bar has a fragile elegance and is a favorite among politicians and fashionistas.

TOP SUITE DUPLEX LOFT SUITE

Why we love it: Natural light bathes this suite through 13 foot high single-pane windows. Architect J. Hoffman’s interior design successfully mediates the aesthetic collision between the room’s ancient art works and indispensible modern technologies. The ancient Balinese column is skillfully complemented by tropical teak furniture and soft snakeskin-style leather furnishings. Enjoy VIP check-in, a laundry and pressing service and 24-hour room service. Victoria and David Beckham, Elizabeth Hurley and Kylie Minogue have all stayed here.

HOTEL AC SANTO MAURO

This 51-room property, which is the former palace of the Duke of Santo Mauro, is ideally located in the heart of the prestigious Chamberí neighborhood, within the Madrilian district.

This is the quintessential suite for media-shy-celebrities, close to main shopping and dining venues, yet discreetly tucked away in a private enclave. The French avant-garde design and furnishings by Josep Joan Pera contrast with and complement the lavish nineteenth century architecture. Try the hotel’s Caroli Boutique Health Club which is for guests only and which includes a sauna and a Turkish bath. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, relax in the hotel’s indoor swimming pool. There are 24-hour room and laundry services and complimentary newspapers.

TOP SUITE PRESIDENTIAL SUITE

Why we love it: The discrete and exclusive nature of the Santo Mauro is evident in the Presidential Suite’s private entrance check in, en-suite Jacuzzi and butler service. A sleek modern interior makes the suite a restful haven from the city hubbub. There are bigger-than-Californiaking beds, Acqua di Parma toiletries and babysitting services. For an early morning caffeine hit, use the suite’s Nespresso coffee machine and be sure to enjoy the complimentary and exceptional à la carte breakfast. Film star Gwyneth Paltrow has stayed here.
