UNITED NATIONS BUILDING
Geneva is probably best known for being the European Headquarters of the United Nations.
A trip to the UN Office is therefore a ‘must-do’ on your trip to the city. Housed in the ‘Palais des Nations’ in the idyllic Ariana Park where peacocks roam freely, the classic building is twice the size of the Palace of Versailles and offers visitors breathtaking views of Lake Geneva and the Alps. Inside, numerous artworks reflecting the many cultures represented by the UN are on display. A tour of this imposing building will lead you to the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room, the renowned conference dome with a stunning, one-of-a-kind ceiling sculpture by contemporary Spanish artist Miquel Barceló. To join one of the four daily tours, enter the Palais des Nations via the Pregny Gate. Be prepared to show security valid identity documents to gain access to the building.
