Hong Kong – Set to open in 2011, the arrival of Hotel ICON announces a new era in hospitality and hotel management, with an objective to further the development and promotion of hotel, hospitality and tourism management education and research in Hong Kong. Initiated by the School of Hotel & Tourism Management (SHTM) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Hotel ICON works hand-in-hand with the SHTM, a center of excellence for hospitality in Asia, to build a launching pad for successful careers, to educate and shape talented students in a deluxe hotel environment, as well as to forge and provide novel services and management techniques to the hotel and tourism industry.
The components of this monumental hotel have to be refined by a team of world renowned architects and designers, none other than Sir Terence Conran from the United Kingdom, Rocco Yim of Rocco Design Architects Ltd from Hong Kong, and Patrick Blanc, the botanist and Vertical Garden designer from France. Delivering appetizing international flavors complemented with impeccable service, Hotel ICON provides a meeting venue of prestige and convenience, additionally, the best training ground for SHTM students.
Standing 28 stories, Hotel ICON offers 262 beautifully-appointed guest rooms. Most rooms showcase spectacular views of the Victoria Harbour framed by the stunning skyline of the Hong Kong Island. Three prototype rooms will be the platform to develop and showcase new technologies and hotel designs, as well as to research and apply advanced business concepts in hotel management.
