Anantara’s 10th Thai Resort Opens in Bangkok

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

Bangkok, Thailand – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine

Gracing Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River, Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa opened on November 1, 2011, rounding out the luxury hotel group’s Thailand properties. Located on 11 acres of exotic landscaped grounds, the one-of-a-kind resort offers the lush tranquility of a secluded hideaway, while simultaneously placing guests in close proximity to all the excitement of Bangkok.

The riverside hotel’s 407 guest rooms, including 97 suites, are decked in a Thai-inspired contemporary style and feature private balconies with garden or river views. Luxury accommodations are stocked with all the modern musts, from LCD TVs and DVD players to iPod docks and Internet access, and the 24-hour in-room dining service caters to your cravings no matter the time of day or night. Book the Suan Luang Suite, the hotel’s palatial penthouse, for an incomparable stay—it’s also the perfect spot for a private party or business gathering.

Swaying palms and fragrant blooms set the scene by the generous swimming pool, where guests can enjoy delicious cocktails from the swim-up bar, followed by some quality time in the heated Jacuzzi. Take a Thai cooking class (complete with a trip to the local markets for fresh, aromatic ingredients), while your children play at the kids’ club. The on-site spa is a haven for lovers; treatments can be experienced side by side in a spacious double suite with a large tub, leading out onto a private garden courtyard with rain shower and traditional sala.

When you’re not sampling the Bangkok restaurants and savory street bites recommended by the resort’s “streetwise guru” concierge, you’ll have a choice of 10 restaurants and bars on-property. Head to Trader Vic’s for expertly rendered Pacific Rim fare, enjoy vibrant teppanyaki cooking shows at Japanese steak house Benihana and Italian gastronomy in a Tuscan villa setting at Brio. For the best of Thai cuisine, take a dining cruise on an antique rice barge, and indulge while gliding by Bangkok’s famous sites. The exclusive Dining by Design program invites guests to collaborate with a personal chef and choose their own idyllic locale for candlelit culinary intimacy.
