The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa is proud to announce their newly appointed and esteemed Executive Chef Henrico Grobbelaar will Captain the South Africa Team competing in the Culinary World Cup 2010 at the 11th ‘Salon International du vin de la Gastronomie’ (International Gastronomy Show) – EXPOGAST 2010 in Luxembourg from 20th to 24th November. Joined by the Hotel’s legendary Pastry Chef, Peter Gyorgyicsek, their selection in the Culinary Team South Africa affirms the Hotels reputation as gourmet par excellence as the only establishment to have two Chef’s represented in the team.
The international culinary contest organized by Villeroy & Boch every 4 years, is rated as the second biggest culinary competition in the world. This four-day event includes some 2,300 competing chefs from 51 nations presenting a global view of culinary art to the public. There are 25 National Teams, 10 National Military Teams, 10 National Junior Teams, 10 Collective Catering Teams as well as individual chefs and confectioners that compete in this outstanding culinary event. An international jury, comprising professional chefs from all over the world, will judge the various works and will award the bronze, silver and gold medals. The best teams and individuals in each category will be awarded with the Culinary World Cup.
