The Suite

If you’re looking for the ultimate indulgence of Parisian grandeur at Hôtel de Crillon, look no further than a stay in Les Grands Appartements. Occupying the hotel’s fourth floor, Les Grands Appartements is composed of two suites, both designed by Karl Lagerfeld, creating one sprawling Parisian residence. Still looking for more space? An additional bedroom can be connected, transforming the space into a palatial three-bedroom apartment overlooking Place de la Concorde.

It’s hard to imagine a more fitting setting for Lagerfeld’s vision of French chic: after all, just beyond the windows lies the very square where aristocrats once lost their heads during the French Revolution. Fortunately, guests staying today are more likely to lose themselves somewhere between the Carrara marble bathtub and the champagne trolley.

Designed entirely by Lagerfeld before his death, Les Grands Appartements feel deeply personal. Said to be inspired by his adoration of the pearly grey skies of Paris and the steel tones of the Eiffel Tower, the interiors move through shades of slate, silver, silk, and metallic grey, softened by glittering chandeliers, paneled walls, bespoke furnishings, and crisp Drouault linens.

Of course, with Les Grands Appartements being from the hands of one of the most iconic modern French designers, fashion remains stitched into every corner of the residence. Hidden behind discreet doors lined with books personally selected by Lagerfeld are vast couture-style dressing rooms, and around the rooms hang photographs shot by the designer himself, reinterpreting Marie Antoinette in striking contemporary fashion – a playful nod to both French history and the suite’s extraordinary setting above Place de la Concorde.

The marble-clad bathroom, anchored by a bathtub carved from a single slab of Carrara marble, is equally theatrical, while sweeping Eiffel Tower views complete what may be one of Paris’ most unapologetically glamorous hotel residences.

The Hotel

Proudly counted among Paris’ prestigious palace hotels, Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel has long been a fixture on the city’s luxury circuit. Built as the commissioned residences for King Louis XV, the grand 18th-century building overlooks the Place de la Concorde, the very square where, during the French Revolution, aristocrats and royals famously met the guillotine. While it once would have offered front-row seats to history’s grizzliest theater, now, as part of the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts portfolio, thankfully, modern-day guests at Hôtel de Crillon can expect considerably gentler pleasures.

Since opening as a hotel in 1909, Hôtel de Crillon has played host to royalty, diplomats, fashion insiders, and well-heeled travelers drawn to its distinctly Parisian brand of grandeur. Following an extensive four-year restoration, behind the hotel’s stately neoclassical facade lie interiors that bring a softer residential warmth, where marble bathrooms, crystal chandeliers, bespoke furnishings, and rooms dressed in muted creams and pale blues mirror the city beyond the windows. Despite its palace-hotel pedigree, there’s an intimacy to the atmosphere that keeps it from ever feeling too formal.

The property offers 78 rooms and 46 suites, including a handful designed by the late Karl Lagerfeld, whose interpretation of French classicism feels suitably decadent. Dining is equally polished, with four restaurants and bars spread across the property, including the Michelin-starred L’Écrin. Elsewhere, guests can drift between buttery pastries and afternoon tea in the Jardin d’Hiver, cocktails beneath painted ceilings at Les Ambassadeurs, and afternoons spent lingering in the subterranean Sense spa and marble-lined pool. At Hôtel de Crillon, the only thing you’re likely to lose track of is time, not your head.
