The Mayor's Residence, Waldorf Astoria

Description

A brand-new entry for a brand-new suite: The Mayor’s Residence at the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam opened its private entrance for the first time in September 2020. The hotel itself comprises six residential palaces that date back to the 17th and 18th centuries; they were owned by the city’s most affluent citizens during the Dutch Golden Age. The residence was first built in 1665 for Hendrik Hooft (one of the city’s most influential mayors) and still retains many of the original Rococo features. The nine-bedroom private palace sits adjacent to the hotel, and guests of the residence have a direct entrance to the hotel’s award-winning Guerlain Spa, and can have exclusive use of the spa and its three treatment rooms, indoor pool, sauna, steam and relaxation room. The residence has an elegant dining room and the services of a private chef, but if you fancy venturing to the hotel’s two-Michelin-star restaurant, Spectrum, you’ll have a €1,000 (approximately $1,175) daily food and beverage credit.

Best feature Dedicated concierge and oodles of activities from oyster picking to private helicopter rides over the Netherlands
