This Year’s Most Extravagant Easter Eggs

By Lauren Jade Hill

How do you surpass all expectations of family and friends this Easter? Gift them the most impressive Easter egg you can find. A diamond-set chocolate bunny, egg crafted from chocolate lace and whimsical galactic creation are just some of the elaborate works of art that make up this year’s extravagant Easter offering.

Galaxio Easter Egg
Shangri-La Hotel, Paris

In time for Easter, the pastry chef of Shangri-La Hotel Paris, Michael Bartocetti, has created the Galaxio Easter Egg inspired by the Artists & Robots exhibition at the Grand Palais. Over a period of six months Bartocetti came up with a design based on the animated heroes of his childhood, in which soft and fruity pure dark Caribbean chocolate is sprinkled with Kasha grains, caramelized walnuts and salt flowers. The egg’s captain is made from Jivara chocolate and complemented by hazelnut praline and Kasha. This limited edition egg is available until April 5th at the hotel.

Handcrafted Easter Egg
Hotel Café Royal

Ahead of the Easter holidays, Hotel Café Royal’s executive pastry chef Sarah Barber has created a handcrafted and glazed egg made from the finest French Valhrona chocolate. Produced in the village of Tain L’Hermitage in the south of France, this chocolate is known for its aromatic profiles. The egg is then sprayed in rouge cocoa butter and decorated with delicate chocolate feathers that are painted with gold. All of this houses a collection of white chocolate and raspberry truffles. The egg will be available until April 1st from Papillon at Hotel Café Royal.
