By Olivia Cuccaro

  • 2 oz Bulleit Rye whiskey
  • 1/2 oz sweet vermouth
  • 1 oz apple cider
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup (ginger-cinnamon-nutmeg)
  • 3 drops plums bitters

To create this cocktail of the week, combine Bulleit Rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, apple cider and simple syrup with plums bitters and stir. Pour into a coupe glass and garnish with a white-sugar coated Luxardo cherry.

The sun may be shining in Palm Beach, but that doesn’t mean you can’t cocktail like it’s cold outside. Lauded chef Daniel Boulud’s Florida outpost in the opulent Brazilian Court Hotel has crafted a wintry cocktail complete with Bulleit Rye whiskey, bringing out nutty flavors with a richness of vanilla and candied peaches. The seasonal whiskey cocktail is the perfect follow-up to French-inspired fare from Café Boulud Palm Beach’s executive chef, Rick Mace. Sip a Manhattan Winter’s Tale to get into the holiday spirit after an exquisite dish of venison with foie gras, then bask in the opulence of the Two-Bedroom Lanai Suite with Terrace (also known as the Hepburn Suite). Your cocktail may be evoke a snowy day, but the views of tropical greenery from your private patio will remind you that you’re far from winter’s chill.

“It’s a simple play on an old classic, a Manhattan, with a winter-friendly twist achieved by adding subtle flavors of spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and apple cider,” said Lucian Vasile, general manager of Café Boulud Palm Beach, in speaking to Elite Traveler. “Even if we enjoy not being snowed-in here in Florida, it’s sometimes challenging to get into the spirit of the season. Sipping on a seasonally inspired cocktail may do the trick.”

If you’re further north for the season, enjoy cocktails alongside Michelin-starred cuisine from Daniel Boulud at Daniel in New York instead, named to the Elite Traveler list of Top 100 Restaurants in the World 2017.

Café Boulud is located at The Brazilian Court Hotel, 301 Australian Ave, Palm Beach, FL 33480. For more information, please visit cafeboulud.com/palmbeach.
