Brooks Brothers Unveils New Flagship At Aventura Mall

By Neharika Padala

On September 23rd, Brooks Brothers opened its newest retail location at Aventura Mall. The 7,600 square foot retail store will carry the Fall and Winter 2014 Brooks Brothers collections for men and women, the newly introduced “Red Fleece” collection- a spirited twist on Brooks Brothers classics, and the “Fleece” collection for boys and girls.

To celebrate the new store, Brooks Brothers will host an event on September 23rd featuring breakfast bites and beverages from 9:30AM – 11:30AM. Guests attending the event will receive 25% off purchases made during the morning event. The honorable Mayor Susan Gottlieb and members from the Aventura City Commission will be in attendance and will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:45am in honor of the grand opening.

Brooks Brothers has been dressing Floridians for 90 years beginning with the first Brooks Brothers store opening in Palm Beach and since expanding to Miami, Sarasota and Orlando among other locations.

“With the addition of Aventura, we are thrilled to be opening our 24th store in Florida”, said Eloise Cordasco, Brooks Brothers Regional Vice President of Central and South Florida. “Aventura Mall serves as Miami’s premier fashion destination and is situated in a beautiful community that epitomizes the Brooks Brothers lifestyle.”

Brooks Brothers, America’s oldest retailer was established in 1818 by Henry Sand Brooks. From its humble beginnings in New York City at 116 Cherry Street to its position today as a global purveyor of American style, Brooks Brothers has continued to influence and innovate fashion. Brooks Brothers was the first to offer ready-to wear clothing, introduced seersucker and madras to the American market, and created one of the most enduring and popular items: the iconic button-down collar shirt.

Brooks Brothers is not only a clothing brand, but has become part of the American narrative. The brand has the distinction of outfitting of 39 of the 44 Presidents of the United States. It was a favorite of some of the country’s greatest cultural icons such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Clark Gable, Andy Warhol and Katherine Hepburn. The company continues to dress many of today’s leading celebrities and outfits some of TV’s and Hollywood’s biggest productions such as the costumes for the Emmy winning drama Mad Men and Baz Lurhman’s The Great Gatsby.

Iconic articles of clothing such as Lincoln’s Inaugural Great Coat (the coat created for his second inauguration and worn on the evening of his assassination) and FDR’s cape (made famous by the photograph at the Yalta Conference in 1945) are just two examples of how intertwined Brooks Brothers is with American History. “Made-In-America” garments are an intricate part of the Brooks Brothers heritage and serve as a source of pride for the company. With factories in Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Long Island City, Brooks Brothers continues its support for American manufacturing and high quality craftsmanship.
