Grand Velas Los Cabos Opens in Los Cabos, Mexico

For a family-friendly luxury escape, Grand Velas Los Cabos has officially opened in Mexico. Located between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, Grand Velas Los Cabos features 304 ocean view suites, all spanning more than 1,180 sq ft with private terraces, ocean views and 24-hour in-suite dining.

Suites include separate living area with sofa, king or two queen beds, expansive bathroom with Jacuzzi and built-in shower. Guests are offered daily turndown, personal concierge service, daily stocked premium mini-bar with refreshments and snacks, red and white wine from Ensenada, Nespresso Coffee Maker, high definition flat screen with digital cable TV, L’Occitane bath amenities, goose down pillows, comforters and a pillow menu. Grand Class, Presidential and Governor Suites boast private plunge pools and the hotel is set the open the Imperial Suite in February 2017. Additionally, six two-level Wellness Suites have lofted ceilings and feature fitness and wellness amenities such as Life Fitness recline bike, spa concierge, Vitamin C sprinkler, crudité minibar, aromatherapy kit and in-suite massage.

The two-level, 35,000 sq ft Spa at Grand Velas Los Cabos has 16 treatment rooms, with signature treatments centered around the Blue Agave plant native to Mexico and its pre-Columbian ancestral healing benefits. A seven-step water journey features a eucalyptus-scented steam room with chromotherapy, polar pool, aromatherapy sensory shower, sauna, Jacuzzi and multi-sensory pool. The ‘Spa Atelier’ offers a series of specifically-designed educational workshops for guests to participate in inspired by local Mexican culture with courses on skincare, nutrition, aromatherapy, water and tea rituals.

Grand Velas Los Cabos features five restaurants, including the resort’s signature restaurant, Cocina de Autor by two-Michelin star chef Sidney Schutte. Frida, Piaf, and Lucca, are other fine dining options on the property, while Azul offers a more casual, open-air experience. The resort includes four bars—Sky Bar, Miramar Bar, the bar at Cocina de Autor, and Koi—as well as a coffee shop. For wine, Master Sommelier Don Pedro Poncelis Brambila has developed a wine list comprised of 50 sparkling, white, rose and red, in addition to a supplemental list of more than 200 wines from around the world. For wine lovers, Brambila can customize food and wine pairings, wine tastings and even a wine country getaway.

For younger guests, Grand Velas’ Kids’ Club offers interactive activities such as soccer, treasure hunting and cooking classes.  The resort’s Teens’ Club features a game room complete with an X-Box Kinect, pool table, air hockey, ping pong, foosball, karaoke set and vintage dance floor. A kids’ pool with splash pad and playground are also available.
