Women’s Style: Red Hot

By Lauren Jade Hill

By Kristen Shirley

This story originally appeared in the September/October 2017 issue of Elite Traveler.

Shades of red, orange and raspberry walked the runway in every major fashion week. Whether it was a standout statement piece or head-to-toe separates, the colors made quite an impression and stayed very far away from the typical Christmas party look. At Max Mara, different textures and shades break up a potentially overpowering look. A very feminine lipstick-red coat with just the right amount of volume was a standout piece from Jason Wu’s elegant collection.

Victoria Beckham’s asymmetric dress has slightly sheer sleeves and is made a bit tougher when worn with leather boots. New co-creative directors Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim are in the process of refining their vision for Oscar de la Renta, while retaining a separate identity for their brand Monse. In their first collection, we saw many hints of their new vision and nods to the brand’s storied history. There were fabulous cocktail dresses, of course, but we love their take on daywear. In particular, this red mink overcoat is an absolute dream.
