Legendary London hotel will launch Kaspar’s Seafood Bar and Grill, a new restaurant with an all-day menu, on May 2, 2013.

The restaurant will serve as a patisserie by morning, then offer smoked fish, Dover sole and oxtail consommé in the afternoon and evening hours. Its peach melba dessert is a hotel hallmark, having been invented at The Savoy by Auguste Escoffier some 120 years ago.

Art Deco-inspired interiors are by Robert Angell Design Studio. Angell, who has also worked with London’s The Connaught and The Wolseley, used oyster shells for Kaspar’s bar and added teal carpet to the marble flooring, to reflect the restaurant’s seafood-centric menu and panoramic views of the Thames.

A luxury icon since 1889, The Savoy unveiled a three-year, £220 million restoration in 2010. It has 268 rooms and suites on the historic Strand, and is managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.
