The Elite Collection Top 100 Suites Revealed

By Lauren Jade Hill

In the latest issue of Elite Traveler, we’ve left no stone unturned in seeking out the world’s most extraordinary places to stay and present to you a carefully curated list of Top 100 Suites. From secluded islands in the tropics to idyllic mountain settings and some of the world’s most exciting cities, each of these hotels and resorts lies within a truly special location. But a stay at any one of these hotels is made even more extraordinary by staying in their most luxurious suites.

Whether it’s the lavish décor, sprawling space and over-the-top amenities that make them stand out, or their unparalleled panoramas, guests can be sure these suites will provide an unforgettable experience. For the 2017 list we’ve come up with the best places to stay for those seeking adventure, beaches, character, culture and relaxation, the best places for family and the gourmand to stay, as well as the best suites in exciting new hotels and the world’s greatest cities, not to forget the grand dames.

Fly in by helicopter, dine on Michelin starred cuisine and set out on experiential excursions from the hiking to waterfalls in the rainforest to delving into the local culture of Asia’s vibrant cities. Stay in suites designed by world renowned architects and accomplished interior designers, and in spaces that have drawn in countless celebrities, becoming iconic in their own right.

For $80,000 per night, guests can stay in the Royal Penthouse Suite at Hotel President Wilson, A Luxury Collection Hotel, in Geneva, Switzerland. Occupying the entire top floor of the hotel, this penthouse suite provides uninterrupted views over Lake Geneva, with an outdoor terrace and lavish amenities such as a Steinway grand piano.

The Penthouse Suite at Grand Hyatt Cannes Hotel Martinez in France, meanwhile, occupies a vast 17,975 sq ft of space, in which guests can retreat to their panoramic terrace, relax in the suite’s Turkish bath and admire artworks by Picasso. While the suite is used by luxury brands such as Chopard and L’Oréal during Cannes Film Festival, it’s made available to VIP guests throughout the rest of year for $41,930 per night.

As the John Jacob Astor Estate at St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is named among the best new suites, the general manager Alexander Blair tells us: “We’re absolutely thrilled that the John Jacob Astor Estate is featured in the Elite Collection Top 100 Suites, particularly within the first year of The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort opening.  This recognition from such a respected title is a huge accolade for the resort.  We feel our secluded location, stunning design and the John Jacob Astor Estate help to distinguish the St. Regis Maldives Vommuli as a very special place to come.”

CEO of &Beyond Joss Kent then says in response to the inclusion of Casa Familia suite at &Beyond Benguerra Island: “We are extremely proud to be included in the Elite Collection Top 100 Suites. At &Beyond we offer a sustainable and natural luxury, which celebrates our commitment to Care of the Land, Care of the Wildlife and Care of the People. This recognition shows that our lodges honor all of these things, but also offer the very best in accommodation.”

Another new suite recognized in this year’s awards is the Pulitzer Suite at Pulitzer Amsterdam. The hotel’s general manager Alexander van Gastel tells us: “We are exceptionally proud to receive this recognition from Elite Traveler for the Pulitzer Suite as our reopening marks a very special moment in the hotel’s history. The Pulitzer Suite demonstrates exactly what the Pulitzer showcases as a hotel; eclectic local design with luxurious detail within unique 400-year-old canal houses.”
