The Best Cocktails for National Rum Day

Love it or hate it, rum is having a resurgence, appearing at restaurants and on cocktail menus more than ever before.  Elite Traveler has rounded up the best rum-based cocktails for National Rum Day (today!) that you can easily make at home or get at your favorite bar.

Three Hour Tour

Cecconi’s Dumbo

  • 1 part Banks 5 Rum
  • 1 part Martini Bianco
  • .75 part St Agrestis Inferno Bitter
  • .25 part St Agrestis Amaro
  • Coconut oil

Mix all parts into a rocks glass – add coconut oil to impart a tropical, coconut flavor into the drink. Once the coconut oil has had time to sit, add ice, stir and sip. cecconisdumbo.com

Mango Madness

Jade Mountain, St Lucia

  • 1.5 oz Bounty Rum
  • 3 oz fresh mango purée
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp simple syrup
  • 1 dash bitters

Add rum, mango purée, lime juice and bitters in a shaker. Cover and shake before straining into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with a fresh mango slice. jademountain.com

Rum Negroni

Dante NYC

  • 1.25 oz Santa Teresa 1796
  • 1 oz Martini Rubino vermouth
  • 1 oz Martini bitter

Build ingredients into a mixing glass, stir for 30-40 seconds and pour over ice in a double old-fashioned glass. Garnish with an orange peel or lemon twist. dante-nyc.com
