To create this cocktail of the week, shake the rum, blood orange juice and pineapple together in a shaker tin. Pour blue curacao into a hurricane glass and fill with ice. Strain the rum into hurricane glass on top of blue curacao and serve. (To make watermelon-infused coconut rum, carve out half a watermelon, fill with coconut rum and let sit for 48 hours.)
Named for the mythological creatures who captivated lowly sailors with their songs, this cocktail of the week’s fruity flavor is just as alluring. Drawing on its coastal setting, Cliff House Maine has introduced the sea-inspired Siren cocktail as a celebration of summer weather by the ocean.
“When creating The Siren we wanted to bring in quintessential summer ingredients for our guests to enjoy,” said Caitlin Hula, Beverage Manager at Cliff House Maine, in speaking to Elite Traveler. “The watermelon-infused coconut rum along with other Caribbean juices transport you onto a beach with your toes in the sand. By mixing blood orange into the cocktail, you cut the sweetness of the pineapple and coconut with a hint of tart. The watermelon adds a refreshing twist at the end of the drink.”
Set atop Bald Head Cliff on the coast of Southern Maine, Cliff House is a serene New England getaway overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
