To create this cocktail of the week, shake Monkey 47 gin with other ingredients except soda. Strain and serve in a short glass without ice. Top off with soda. Garnish with edible flowers.
Set within 17th- and 18th-century houses along a picturesque canal, Pulitzer Amsterdam has debuted a sensory cocktail experience allowing guests to explore the inextricable connection between taste and smell. Upon entering the historic hotel, you’re pleasantly greeted by an aroma created by none other than coveted French perfume brand Le Labo. The Pulitzer’s signature scent — Santal 33 — inspired our pick of the light and refreshing Violet cocktail. Drawing on the prominent violet notes in Santal 33 by Le Labo, the floral gin cocktail reflects the essence of the property both on the nose and to taste.
“We are excited to share Pulitzer Amsterdam’s signature scent, Le Labo’s Santal 33, with guests and locals in the form of a cocktail,” said Andrei Talapanescu, head bartender at Pulitzer’s Bar. “Scent and taste are very closely linked, and our bar team has enjoyed the process of pulling key notes from the fragrance and incorporating them into cocktails.”
Through January 2018, the sophisticated Pulitzer’s Bar will be serving up the Violet along with two other exclusive Le Labo-inspired cocktails: the Cardamom, made with spiced gin, and the Leather, made with bourbon. Guests are invited to awaken their olfactory system in the Art-Deco style bar by smelling and touching raw ingredients alongside the perfume before tasting the cocktails.
Having undergone a refurbishment in 2016, Pulitzer Amsterdam now boasts upscale accommodations to match its stylish bar scene. Book the palatial Pulitzer Suite, named to the Elite Traveler list of Top 100 Suites 2017.
