The Phoenician, part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection, has introduced two luxury suites and two guest rooms ‘exclusively’ for guests with allergies. For those who are familiar with the resort, the rooms are in The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician, the boutique hotel on property, not the main resort building.
According to a press release the accommodations feature a special cleaning process and amenities.
How do they do it?:
“Serviced by Phoenix-based company EcoClean, the accommodations are maintained through an extensive purification protocol that includes organic products and disinfectants for cleansing carpets and upholstery, as well as special hygienic casing for mattresses and pillows to protect against bacteria and allergens. Dedicated filters have been installed within the bathrooms’ shower heads to remove chlorine, and in the air conditioning systems to eliminate chemicals and particles. Another special cleansing element also has been placed in the air conditioning units to eradicate bacteria with tea tree oil.”
What are the special amenities you get?
“New, customized amenities for these exclusive suites and rooms include air purifiers, foam pillows, Malin+Goetz hypoallergenic bath products created with all natural ingredients, as well as a customized mini-bar and in-room dining menu, based on guests’ sensitivities. As an additional enhancement, the four accommodations chosen for this specialized category are all located on the second floor – away from designated first-floor, dog-friendly rooms. They can also be connected to create a pair of two-bedroom suites for family and friends traveling together.”
Managing Director Mark Vinciguerra said coming up with the new allergy resistant accommodations were “a perfect balance to our expanded dog-friendly program announced earlier this year.”
There’s a joke about cats and dogs or a dog’s life in there somewhere. In the meantime, the newest luxury hotel amenity is nothing to sneeze at.
