Riviera Maya’s most luxurious resort, the 128 all-suite Rosewood Mayakoba, reopens today following a four-week, $1.6 million renovation, just in time to celebrate a new beginning of the Mayan Calendar. Led by renowned Mexican architect and interior designer, Jose Manuel Martinez Marquez, the renovation includes: the addition of 18 adjoining suites created from existing accommodations and restyled with artwork and furniture; a makeover of the resort’s distinct dining venues – Casa Del Lago Restaurant, Agave Azul Sushi Bar & Tequila Library, and Punta Bonita; remodeling and expansion of the gym at Sense, a Rosewood Spa; and new on-property experiences.

It all begins ensuite, where Rosewood Mayakoba has now offered up 18 connecting residences to make the resort an even more desirable destination catering to families or larger groups. The lavish suites sleep up to six guests each and are outfitted with high-end paintings and artwork by local artisans to reflect the destination’s heritage and a peaceful, soothing environment.

When the time comes to leave the room, however, families, couples, and even bachelors can rejoice with Rosewood Mayakoba’s new enthralling on-property amenities. The Culture Concierge, serving as the go-to for all things to do in the region and off-the-beaten-path activities will arrange day-tours upon request by prominent archeologists and historians who act as guides through the region’s famed Mayan archeological sites of Maya communities. Perfect for family excursions, with snorkeling, ziplining, and EcoTour options, Rosewood Mayakoba is also the ultimate romantic escape. After a day at the beach, couples can retreat to one of the three newly built palapas situated throughout the resort, take a dip in their suite’s plunge pool, refresh over cocktails on the waterfront terrace, take in the awe-inspiring views of the Caribbean Sea and end the night with a private beach dinner.
