Rob Mondavi Wine Pairings Dinner Set For BR Prime

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

BILOXI, Miss. – MGM MIRAGE’s Beau Rivage and Folio Wine Partners present an intimate wine pairings dinner with Rob Mondavi the evening of August 25. For $150 per person, wine lovers will have the opportunity to taste fine wines from the world’s leading and emerging wine regions while enjoying a reception and delectable four-course dinner prepared by Beau Rivage’s Executive Chef Joseph Friel. The event will take place in BR Prime and begin with a reception at 7:00 p.m. Dinner will follow at 7:30 p.m. and feature two wines with each course, a New World example and an Old World example. A seasoned wine dinner speaker and grandson of the late Robert Mondavi, one of the most influential and revered winemakers in California history, Rob Mondavi’s enthusiasm for wine began more than 30 years ago. Raised in Napa Valley, he spent much of his time as a child playing among the vines and barrels at Robert Mondavi Winery. Growing up, the young Mondavi worked in a variety of roles at the family winery, from vineyards to cellar to hospitality. In 2004, he and his family founded Folio Fine Wine Partners, an importer, fine wine agency and producer of quality wines from California, Argentina, Italy, Austria, Spain and New Zealand. Mondavi’s role as president of Winegrowing for the company has enabled him to return to his true passion of winemaking. He is the winemaker for I’M Wines, Oberon, Spellbound and Medusa. With more than 25 years of experience as executive chef for some of New York’s most prestigious restaurants and hotels, Chef Joseph Friel delivers expertise in classical fine dining complemented by a fresh perspective on trend-setting menus. Prior to taking the helm at Beau Rivage in 2001, Friel served as executive sous chef at New York’s famous “21” Club and executive banquet chef at The Plaza Hotel, orchestrating prestigious corporate events and high-profile functions for celebrities such as Donald and Ivana Trump, Eddie Murphy and Joan Rivers. Among his chief culinary accomplishments, Friel has been honored as one of the Great Chefs of New York and invited to cook at the renowned James Beard House. Tickets for the Rob Mondavi wine dinner are available at the Beau Rivage Box Office or by calling 888.567.7469. Beau Rivage room reservations can be made by calling 888.567.6667 or visiting www.beaurivage.com.
