Raffles “Slings” Signature Cocktails This Summer

Cocktail aficionados can even create these sumptuous drinks at home following the recipes:

Raffles Hotel , Singapore – “ Singapore Sling”
In the early 1900’s Raffles Hotel Singapore’s bartender Ngiam Tong Boon created a gin-based cocktail named Singapore Sling in an attractive pink hue to cater to British ladies who discreetly fancied a cocktail whilst in public. The drink is now world famous and Raffles Hotel , Singapore serves close to 2,000 glasses of the Singapore Sling daily. Ngiam locked the original recipe in a safe for many years; however, it has finally been revealed below:

30 ml Gin
15 ml Heering Cherry Brandy
120 ml Pineapple Juice
15 ml Lime Juice
7.5 ml Cointreau
7.5 ml Dom Benedictine
10 ml Grenadine
A Dash of Angostura Bitters
Garnish with a slice of Pineapple and Cherry

Raffles Dubai – “ Dubai Sling”
Inspired by the local flavors of the Middle East and infused with ingredients from South East Asia , the Dubai Sling follows the steps of the famous Singapore Sling. This innovative cocktail, with zesty flavors of lemon, coriander, chili and fig is perfect while lounging by the patio or pool:

50ml Plymouth Gin
3 sheet of ginger
1 ½ bsp Fig Jam
30ml Fresh Lemon Juice
20ml Corriander and Chili Gomme (sugar syrup) Dash Peychauds Bitters
Soda to fill
Muddle the ginger inside the boston glass add all the ingredient except soda.
Shake and strain in a sling glass with ice top with soda.
Select a fig wedge for garnish, with a ginger fan served in a traditional sling glass.

Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Phnom Penh , Cambodia – “Femme Fatale”
In 1967, Jacqueline Kennedy visited Cambodia to fulfill a lifelong dream of seeing Angkor Wat. While residing at Hotel Le Royal, she admired Prince Norodom Sihanouk’s own jazz composition, The Evening I Met You, sipping a rouge-colored Champagne cocktail in the Elephant Bar. Decades later, during the refurbishment process of Raffles Hotel Le Royal, her cocktail glass was discovered still bearing the imprint of her lipstick. To commemorate her visit to Phnom Penh this elegant Champagne cocktail is reborn as “Femme Fatale”. This cocktail is excellent to serve for a girls gathering:

7.5 ml Crème de Fraise
Dash of cognac
Top with Champagne
Preparation: Build in Glass
Glass Champagne Flute
Garnish Rose

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, Siem Reap, Cambodia – “Airavata”
Named after a divine multi-headed elephant and bearer of the king of gods in Hindu mythology, Airavata is a refreshing concoction of rum with pineapple, coconut and lime juice and served in a handmade elephant grand tasse. Bas reliefs and sculptures of Airavata can be admired at the temples of Angkor , which frequently depict scenes from the Hindu epics. This is a truly tantalizing cocktail with a sense of history:

30 ml Rum
15 ml Crème de Banana
15 ml Coconut Passion
60 ml Pineapple juice
10 ml Lime juice
30 ml Coconut juice
10 ml Sugar syrup
Airavata mug
Shake ingredients with ice and pour
