Nobu Israel Starts Above Ground Construction; Planned To Open in 2010

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

HERZLIYA, ISRAEL — The development team for The Nobu Hotel and Residences (www.thenobuherzliya.com) on the Herzliya Marina in Israel, the first in a distinctive collection of hotels, resorts and vacation residences, today announced it has commenced above ground construction, with the lobby level expected to be completed later this month.

The steel structure of the first six floors is scheduled to be constructed by the end of 2008, with all 12 floors finished by mid-2009, announced Danny Rubinstein, a lead developer on the project.

“Construction is progressing at a rapid rate, with the targeted opening date planned for mid-2010 at the latest,” Rubinstein stated. “When completed, The Nobu Hotel and Residences on the Herzliya Marina will redefine luxury hospitality, not only in Israel but throughout the world.”

Inspired by the traditional Japanese inn, or ryokan, The Nobu Hotel and Residences combines the impeccable attention to detail characteristic of Japanese hospitality with modern amenities and sophisticated luxuries.

The Nobu Hotel and Residences in Herzliya brings together a world-class development team led by the Tidhar Group, along with international business leaders Adi Strauss, Irit Strauss and Danny Rubinstein.

The Tidhar Group is one of the leading real estate developers in Israel and received the prestigious Yitzhak Rabin award of excellence in quality. Marina Resort, a management company led by Rubinstein, is active in mixed-use developments. Adi Strauss and Irit Strauss are board members and shareholders of the Strauss Group, an international company in the branded food and beverage industry with over $1 billion in annual sales.

The 225-room Nobu Hotel and Residences in Herzliya will include 12 penthouses and nine duplexes. Home to the first Nobu restaurant in Israel, it will feature a landscaped and custom-designed pool with private cabanas, intimate Nobu Spa, and private Members’ Club. Each luxuriously appointed private residence features expansive terraces with Mediterranean views, a spacious layout with signature Nobu Style furnishings and handcrafted finishes, high-end signature kitchen, and state-of-the-art technology.

David Rockwell and Rockwell Group, an award-winning, cross-disciplinary architecture and design practice and a Nobu Partner of nearly 15 years, crafted strategic direction on the extension of Nobu brand’s design philosophy and provided the architecture and interior design. Mr. Rockwell is collaborating with international architect Rani Ziss on the Nobu Herzliya development.

Herzliya Marina is the largest marina in Israel, with docks for up to 800 yachts. It is located along the Mediterranean coast and just minutes from the heart of Tel Aviv.
