Mandarin Oriental San Francisco Unveils New Spa

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine

On October 1, Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco will unveil its new 8,000-square-foot Spa and Fitness Center, a rejuvenating retreat unlike any other in the city with comprehensive facilities and a unique offering of holistic Asian-inspired spa treatments.

In honor of the opening, guests are invited to enjoy two special offers that are valid between October 1 to November 16, 2012. For every 1 hour 20 minute rejuvenating body massage booked, guests will receive a complimentary signature Mandarin Oriental Quintessence Body Scrub valued at USD80. Guests booking a specialized facial will receive a complimentary Revitalizing Eye Treatment.

Located on the hotel’s 3rd floor, a dedicated team of holistic therapists, led by Director of Spa, Kristy Whitford, will guide guests through a sensory experience that touches the mind, body and spirit, providing hotel guests and day-spa users with a harmonious experience of well-being in an unparalleled spa environment. Designed to reflect the elevated level of luxury intrinsic to Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, The Spa offers a tranquil, meditative setting and features a total of four treatment suites, including a special couple’s suite and a relaxing Tea Lounge for guests to rest and reflect.

Design highlights include a warm, natural color palette with subtle Asian detailing. The walls feature richly textured, mocha-hued coverings accented with illuminated golden tones, and the interior is further accentuated with museum quality art pieces that are on display throughout. Also on display is an elegant six-foot statue of Kuan-Yin, Goddess of Mercy, holding the peach of life.

The spa will offer Mandarin Oriental’s Signature Spa Therapies developed in consultation with specialists in Traditional Chinese Medicine and master aroma therapists, the Mandarin Oriental Signature Spa Therapies consist of a relaxing, hands-on body massage ritual that combines the powerful effects of Oriental meridian massage with the therapeutic benefits of custom-blended essential oils, created uniquely for Mandarin Oriental. The signature 60-minute Oriental Essence massage will present guests a firm, full-body massage concentrating on neck, shoulder and lower back areas to leave the body, mind, and spirit energized, revitalized, and in perfect harmony. Other treatments include the 1 hour 50 minute Oriental Harmony, a treatment performed by two therapists working in perfect unison to replenish the skin using a soft scrub followed by a massage to balance the body.

In addition, guests can book personalized journeys called “Time Rituals” which encourage guests to book time rather than specific treatments, so that services can be tailor-made to meet specific needs. Intended to restore a natural state of equilibrium, and attend to the body’s specifics needs, a Time Ritual is tailor made for individual guests. Beginning with a welcoming foot ritual, each Time Ritual will provide a peaceful path to an unforgettable experience.

The Spa will also offer personalized massages and body treatments utilizing products from Aromatherapy Associates, an expert in the spa field producing natural essential oil-based products that improve one’s general state of health and wellbeing physically and emotionally.

Designer treatments will include the Mother-to-be to nurture and support expecting mothers in a time of constant change, and Cocoon for the New Mother to provide new mothers with special attention after the stresses of pregnancy with a nourishing, regenerative treatment.
