By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

Guadalajara, Mexico – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine Jalisco, home of Mariachis and Tequila, has been selected to host three very important United Nations forums in 2010; demonstrating the capacity and infrastructure of the State to host world class events.

Guadalajara will welcome more than 3,000 representatives from 191 countries as it converts into the capital city of telecommunications for the United Nations’ International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-10), taking place from October 4th through the 22nd at Expo Guadalajara. Topics to be discussed will include internet politics, bandwidth accessibility, and cyber security, among others.

According to the Hon. Emilio Gonzalez Marquez, Governor of the State of Jalisco, the selection of Guadalajara as the host city “signifies an international recognition for Mexico and Guadalajara as a destination more than capable of organizing important events, such as these.” For more information on this conference, please CLICK HERE

Another large scale event coming to Jalisco is the 4th Global Forum on Migration and Development, which will take place in Puerto Vallarta on November 8th and 9th. The forum is a UN initiative which pursues a discussion on immigration and the responsibility of the nations on this phenomenon. For more information on this event, please CLICK HERE

Puerto Vallarta will also host the World Tourism Organization’s 7th International Tourism Forum for Parliamentarians and Local Authorities, from November 16th through the 18th. The Forum will focus on the current challenges that the tourism sector faces, such as the world economic crisis, elimination of poverty and the impact on tourism to local and global economic growth.

In order to respond efficiently to this increasing demand for world-class events while maintaining its signature hospitality and quality service, Jalisco is expanding its hotel offering:

– In Guadalajara, the hotel capacity is projected to increase by more than 2,280 rooms in 2010. Expected to open later this year is the Westin-Expo Guadalajara, with 232 rooms, and the Riu Torre Lopez Mateos, with 550 rooms. Also under construction are a Four Seasons and a Sheraton, among others international brands with high recognition.

– Puerto Vallarta is also accompanying the recent opening of a world-class convention center with exciting developments in hotels and resorts. New properties in operation include the Grand Miramar Club & Spa, with 110 rooms, the Garza Blanca Preserve, an ocean front resort and spa with 46 rooms; and Castillos de Vallarta, the boutique hotel located at the highest point of Conchas Chinas enclave offering 5 exclusive villas with the most astonishing views of Banderas Bay. There are also several hotels under construction, such as the luxury all-inclusive properties Secrets and Now Amber resorts and the Sunset Plaza Beach Resort & Spa.
