InterContinental Hotels and Resorts will open its new Marseille property, Hotel Dieu, in April 2013.
General Manager Madelijn Vervoord originally announced the project during the 2006 International Luxury Travel Mart in Cannes, and construction began in 2009.
Calling the hotel a national landmark, Vervoord said the property will be positioned as the top luxury hotel in the city with 172 rooms and 22 suites. Many bathtubs have views of the church and gardens in front of the hotel. A 1,700-square-foot Presidential Suite and 860-square-foot terrace is the top accommodation. Michelin Chef of seven years Lionel Levy is moving to open Alcyone, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant and will be responsible for all catering at the hotel.
