Donald Trump Unveils Brand New Red Tiger At Trump National Doral

By Neharika Padala

Donald J. Trump announced today the completion of the brand new Red Tiger golf course during a press conference at Trump National Doral, Miami. Joined by famed golf course designers Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner, as well as 88 contestants of The 63rd Annual Miss Universe® Pageant, Mr. Trump unveiled the new golf course to more than 100 VIPs in attendance, including City of Doral Mayor Luigi Boria and members of the press.

Situated on over 800-acres in the heart of Miami, Mr. Trump has totally transformed and rebuilt the iconic Doral Golf Resort, investing over $350-million dollars in this spectacular project. Trump National Doral is now the finest golf resort in the United States. Mr. Trump has fully redesigned each of its four championship golf courses including the world renowned Blue Monster, home of the WGC – Cadillac Championship and awarded by Golf Magazine as “Best Renovation of the year – and possibly ever.”

The Red Tiger is set on 120 acres of contoured fairways over sand based land, an incredibly unique and rare trait. While the goal of every tee shot should be to take advantage of the magnificent fairways, the subtle undulation of the small-scaled greens requires daring accuracy. White-sand bunkers guarding the greens, dramatic mounding and swales surrounding the putting surfaces highlight the beauty of the course. There is an abundance of water framing the fairways with water hazards coming into play on 17 of the 18 holes. The Red course received its namesake from the late, great, Jackie Gleason, who loved golf and was based in Miami, when he got “beat up” so badly during a round after which, he called the course the Red Tiger.

Following the press conference, Mr. Trump inaugurated the new Red Tiger golf course, hitting a ceremonial shot from the first tee. The golf course designers, as well as several of the Miss Universe contestants, also hit ceremonial tee shots, including Miss Canada, who impressed attendees with a long straight drive down the first fairway.
