China’s First Park Hyatt Resort Opens in Tranquil Zhejiang

Ningbo, China – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine

Two and a half hours from Shanghai, in a scenic region characterized by tea plantations, ancient Buddhist temples, and working fishing villages, Park Hyatt Ningbo Resort and Spa opens as China’s very first Park Hyatt-branded retreat. Perched on the banks of the Dong Qian Lake, in the eastern province of Zhejiang, this 236-key oasis comes complete with freestanding villas, a holistic spa, and over 14,000 square feet of event space.

Park Hyatt hotels take a local approach, and at Ningbo, Chinese architectural principles are employed throughout (think open courtyards, sky wells, and picturesque ponds). The 10 stand-alone villas, featuring simple plastered exteriors and tiled, gabled roofs were designed in the style of a traditional Chinese water village. Of course, nowhere was luxury overlooked: Double daybeds and large picture windows showcase the serene setting in all guest rooms, and spacious bathrooms have a tub, rain shower, vanity area, and dressing room.

Seafood House, the resort’s signature eatery, gives guests the option to sample fresh seafood in the main dining room, al fresco, or in one of 10 private pavilions, where a private entrance, lounge, and dedicated butler await. The Dining Room, meanwhile, serves a menu of rich, Western and Chinese comfort food. Take your afternoon tea, or evening cocktails, at the Tea House, located in a former ancestral family mansion.

The hotel’s tricked out Fitness Pavilion sports a heated indoor pool, fully equipped gym, reflexology facilities, steam rooms, saunas, whirlpool baths, and an 85-foot outdoor infinity pool with spectacular views of the lake—everything you need to look after your body, and then some. Balance your qi (vital energy) at the property’s on-site Yue Hu Spa, which dedicates itself to holistic wellbeing with treatments that incorporate the principles of ancient Chinese wellness philosophy.

Elegant affairs can be held at Park Hyatt Ningbo’s pillar-free ballroom, with the capacity for up to 400 people; the intimate Salon and Pavilion, meanwhile, are perfect for exclusive gatherings.
