American Express Announce New Benefits for the Platinum Card

By Lauren Jade Hill

The Platinum Card has long been the credit card of choice for premium rewards. And now American Express has announced a series of new benefits, which will be rolled out on March 30th 2017. Designed with today’s global travelers in mind, the new Platinum Card will provide exclusive access, experiences and premium service to card holders anywhere in the world.

American Express Platinum Card

Key benefits are to include annual Uber credit of up to $200 for U.S. rides, with automatic VIP status where available, 5X Membership Rewards points for eligible hotels booked through amextravel.com, and access to the growing Global Lounge Collection, which now includes 1,000 lounges across 120 countries – more than any other U.S. credit card.

Card holders will be able to add Additional Gold Cards on to their Platinum Card account, too, without the need to pay the Additional Gold Card annual fee. The card then affords access to its new Global Dining Collection, which American Express has curated in partnership with renowned chefs such as Thomas Keller and Daniel Humm; not only are members given exclusive reserved seating, they also have access to a series of culinary events and dining experiences, from EMP Summer House in the Hamptons to a pop-up restaurant from the Eleven Madison Park team.

In addition to these perks, American Express is expanding its By Invitation Only program to include more exclusive experiences for Card Members. The program has previously included premium access to the Monaco Grand Prix, a trip through France’s wine regions, and a fashion tour with Harper’s Bazaar for the magazine’s 150th anniversary. All of this comes with a sleek new card design and the continued value hotels and resorts place on Platinum Card members with benefits such as complimentary breakfast and late check-out.

These new benefits add to the Platinum Cards established perks of Airline Fee Credit, Starwood Preferred Guest and Hilton Honors Gold Status, access to the Delta Private Jet Program, and complimentary access to Wi-Fi hotspots, as well as a Fee Credit for Global Entry or the TSA Pre✓® program application. Together, these advantages place the Platinum Card as an indispensable resource for discernible travelers.
