The Best Spas in San Francisco

By Chris Boyle

Remede1

Discover a world of relaxation, rejuvenation and beauty at these fabulous San Francisco spas.

BLISS SPA AT W SAN FRANCISCO

Treatment and facilities: Bliss Spas have brought a new vibe to the world of health resorts.

Replacing the traditional soft music and even softer voices with bright colors and funky names, Bliss brings a cool, modern attitude that makes for a more enjoyable spa experience. Located on the fourth floor of the W Hotel, many of the treatments are given an unusual twist; check out the movie-while-you-manicure where visitors to the nail bar can choose from a large selection of DVDs to watch on the plasma TV screens. Despite the fun and unconventional approach, Bliss spa still offers an exceptionally level of service; the staff are highly trained and the massages are out of this world. There’s even a brownie buffet for those who are fed up with salad, and don’t worry, the brownies are still reasonably healthy. Popular with the young and beautiful, head to Bliss if you fancy a change from regular spa therapy.

Signature treatment: Movie-while-you-manicure nail stations.

REMÈDE AT THE ST. REGIS SAN FRANCISCO

RemÈde

Treatment and facilities: Offering a more traditional approach to spa therapy than Bliss Spa, Remède at the St. Regis San Francisco is a luxurious oasis that few ever want to leave.

The only Mobil Four Star spa in San Francisco introduces you to a world of indulgence almost upon entry; even the cedar-lined lockers are lavish. Champagne and truffles are on offer in the spa’s lounge while you wait for your own therapist, who will then create a personalized treatment specifically catered to your requirements. The treatments are spectacular, with a particular highlight being the Remède Customized Facial, a customized facemask treatment that will leave you feeling clean and refreshed. Another favorite is the four hand massage, where two of Remede’s expert massage therapists work simultaneously to completely relax you. Once you’ve finished your program of treatments there’s the highly recommended option of taking a dip in the indoor infinity pool, which boasts a magnificent view over San Francisco. The spa services are available for both guests of the hotel and those just visiting.

Signature treatment: Rejuvenating & Hydrating Body Ritual and St. Regis Refresh Facial.
