Begin the day with a breakfast buffet in the Villa Magna Restaurant.

Why not take a private tour of the city starting at the Palacio Real. The suites and grounds will take the best part of an hour and a half to see. Move on to the Cava Baja, a lively and beautiful street, for tapas and appetizers. There are a number of authentic locations for traditional Spanish fare; El Almandro, one of the oldest taverns in Madrid, serves excellent tapas. In the Cava area, Casa Lucio has entertained a number of celebrities, politicians, top bullfighters and even the occasional royal, and is famed for its Huevos Estrellados (broken eggs) and roasted meats. Alternatively, try the traditional El Landó.

After lunch head to the Prado Museum for a guided tour which takes up to two and a half hours.

In summer, an al fresco buffet breakfast on the terrace of the Goya Restaurant is the perfect way to start the day.
The Ritz Madrid resides in a superb location overlooking the eminent Prado Museum, and is within a stone’s throw of the equally renowned Thyssen Bornemisza and Reina Sofía museums. We recommend a private tour of any one of these museums. Take a stroll in Retiro Park, the ‘lungs of Madrid,’ a five minute walk from the Prado. The park’s most spectacular feature is the Palacio de Cristal (Crystal Palace) which houses art exhibitions. To sample exceptional tapas try Madrid’s historical quarter.
