The full-beam master double suite, VIP double suite and further double and twin suites are all en-suite and more subtly furnished with wood paneling and cream textiles.

TWIZZLE

Twizzle

Length | 189ft (57.5m)
Number of guests | 8
Number of staterooms | 4
Builder | Royal Huisman
Year of construction | 2010
Draft | 34.4ft (10.5m)
Weekly rate | $292,500/$313,000 (high season)

2010 saw the launch of one of the most innovative sailing yachts to enter the charter market in recent years – Twizzle certainly maximizes modern technology to an impressive scale.

Built with performance in mind, she can compete on the superyacht racing circuit, but she is just as exciting on a slow cruise. Rapid furling and fast tacking sails leave her teak decks free of ropes and winches, but her rig has also been built to ensure Twizzle can clear Panama’s Bridge of the Americas. A swing centerboard can be raised and lowered, acting as a stabilizer when motoring which dramatically reduces her draft and opens up shallow anchorages that are normally out of bounds to sailing yachts of Twizzle’s size. The interior has also received an innovative touch: giant wraparound windows offer panoramic views to the open-plan saloon, the light woods, polished Italian marble and modern textiles giving it an elegant yet informal edge. A slip-level stern platform unfolds out of the transom, allowing easy access for swimming or boarding one of Twizzle’s many tenders. Extraordinarily for a superyacht, Twizzle is carbon neutral and is therefore certified for cruising in environmentally sensitive waters.

Leisure and recreation: 2 x 21 foot Castoldi Jet tenders each with 250hp, 2 x kayaks, 1 x Laser sailing dingy. Diving equipment includes Bauer Scuba compressor with Nitrox system, snorkeling equipment and tanks.

ROXANE

Roxane

Length | 153ft (47m)
Number of guests | 8
Number of staterooms | 4
Builder | Su Marine
Year of construction | 2010
Draft | 11.5ft (3.5m)
Weekly rate | $104,500/$125,000 (high season)

Roxane was launched only last year to great anticipation and interest, since she is the first wooden superyacht to have been launched for many years. Her traditional design was created by traditional craftsmanship from the Su Marine yard in Turkey. Such elegance combined with the modern ketch rig gives this 47-meter yacht flawless performance. The deck is one vast expanse of teak, stylishly fitted out with large comfortable sun beds and seating arrangements – perfect for alfresco dining. The interior decor is known as ‘beach chic’ – a contemporary fusion of bleached teak floors and sycamore paneling with plenty of natural light. Black marble bathrooms are en-suite to each of the four staterooms while the VIP suite has its own entrance.

Leisure and recreation: 16.5 foot (5 meter) jet-drive tender, 8 foot (2.4 meter) inflatable tender, 13 foot (4 meter) custom made sailing dinghy ‘Voyou’, waterskis and diving equipment (for rendezvous diving only).

WALL Y ‘B’

Wally

Length | 107’5ft (32.7m)
Number of guests | 6
Number of staterooms | 3
Builder | Pendennis Shipyard, UK
Year of construction | 1998
Draft | 15.7ft (4.8m)
Weekly rate | $83,500

As bizarre as it might sound, in the yachting community the word ‘Wally’ implies a pedigree of speed and cutting edge enterprise.

Wally Yachts are at the forefront of sailing yacht design; they do away with traditional nautical kitsch, replacing such features with open plan decks and interiors. Wally ‘B’ embodies all such advantages and her carbon fiber hull and gun metal rig give her an iconic silhouette that is instantly recognizable. However, the carbon fiber is not merely for show, it is integral to the lightweight design of Wally ‘B’ and essential for her superior performance. The interior is also unique and state of the art: instead of awkward divisions and bulkheads used in most sailing yachts, Wally ‘B’ has an open-plan, loft-like interior using the curve of the hull and beauty of carbon fiber as a backdrop. The saloon, for example, is made up of large leather sofas that can be arranged as couches for lounging, chaise lounges to watch TV or as a dining room to seat 14. The three double staterooms are all en-suite, although the owner’s bathroom is most impressive with its glass walls and Japanese-style bath tub.

Leisure and recreation: Custom 14 foot (4.2 meter) Nautica with Mercruiser 120hp jet engine, snorkeling gear, waterskis, wakeboard and other towables.
