The Latest Luxury Luggage

When it comes to luggage, it can be difficult to find something really new. This fall, three companies rise to the innovation challenge.

LOUIS VUITTON

Louis Vuitton of course began as a trunk company, but it looked outside its storied history for its newest collection.

Collaborating with industrial designer Marc Newson, the new rolling trunks were designed with the 21st-century traveler in mind. Moving the handle to the outside of the trunk creates a smooth and enlarged packing space; no more wrinkles or fitting shoes between bars. In addition to the completely smooth interior, it is ultra light. The body is made from a new patent-pending composite material and the canvas has been developed in a new 50 percent lighter weight.

SMYTHSON

Smythson’s clients have clamored for a range of wheeled luggage. And prayers have been answered with the launch of the Greenwich collection.

Smythson designed a highly technical bespoke lacquered cotton fabric to ensure lightness and durability. Offset with calf leather details, the collection is luxurious and one of the most attractive pieces of luggage we’ve seen.

BUGABOO

Bugaboo strollers might not be the first company to come to mind when hearing the words “luxury travel”. This fall, that changes.

Shaking up the luggage world in the same way it revolutionized strollers, the Bugaboo Boxer reinvents suitcases from top to bottom. A set of interlocking, clickable cases can easily be configured for long and short trips. The fully loaded system for longer trips includes chassis, travel case and cabin case. For shorter trips, the cabin case and laptop bag should be sufficient.
