Spa of the Week: Lanesborough Club & Spa

By Lauren Jade Hill

By Lauren Jade Hill

In its privileged position at the point Knightsbridge, Hyde Park and Mayfair meet, The Lanesborough is considered one of London’s grandest hotels, celebrated for its Regency architecture and decadent interiors as well as its exemplary service. And now with the completion of the exclusive Lanesborough Club & Spa, luxury travelers have another reason to come here.

Having opening its doors for the first time in March 2017, the new club and spa now provides hotel guests and club members with access to internationally renowned wellness expertise, in addition to the spa’s luxury facilities, fulfilling its 360-degree approach to wellbeing.

Spread across 18,000 square feet, the luxurious space created by interior design firm 1508 fuses the decadence and grandeur that runs throughout the hotel with elegant modern design, encompassing marble floors, soft leather seating in olive green, dark-wooden wall paneling, mirrored surfaces and gold detail.

Five serene treatment rooms lie within this space – including a VIP suite with its own Rasul – alongside additional manicure and pedicure suites, and an ambiently lit, plushly furnished spa lounge. A sauna and steam room feature in each of the gender specific thermal suites, which then meet in the middle with a hydrotherapy pool designed to massage muscles while relaxing both the body and mind.

Incorporating both Ila and La Prairie products, and harnessing the knowledge of wellness expert Anastasia Achilleos, the spa offers a carefully curated range of spa therapies, which are tailored to personal requirements based on consultation, such as the Ila Goldsilk Face Therapy, La Prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Age-Defying Facial, and sessions with Anastasia Achilleos in which she shares the techniques she has become so well known for.

State-of-the-art fitness facilities, a team of personal trainers and a series of classes are integrated into members’ bespoke fitness programs, which are enhanced further by the spa’s collaboration with fitness specialists Bodyism.

With emphasis placed on nutrition too, Bodyism also offers personalized nutritional advice, while the hotel’s Michelin starred chef Florian Favario creates healthy spa cuisine, including dishes such as marinated yellowfin tuna with spiced guacamole and salmon poke bowl. These are served in the spa’s dedicated restaurant, which exhibits the same elegant design of the spa it’s within. And it’s also here that the spa’s bar can be found.

Membership to the Lanesborough Club & Spa includes 10 guest passes, a complimentary spa treatment, a spa butler concierge service, fitness assessment and access to Bodyism performance specialists, among a number of other benefits.
