The Ashford Castle Estate

By Emily Saladino

The historic Ashford Castle is now part of the group’s award-winning collection.

Located in County Mayo, in western Ireland, Ashford Castle dates back to the 13th Century, and once served as the Guinness family home.

Since becoming a hotel in 1939, the iconic lakefront resort has hosted the likes of Ronald Reagan, John Lennon, Oscar Wilde, Brad Pitt and King George V of Britain.

It has 83 guestrooms, a spa, fields for falconry and clay pidgeon shooting, a nine-hole golf course, equestrian facilities and access to fishing in the Lough Corrib.

The Red Carnation Hotel Collection is a family-run group of boutique luxury hotels in London, Dorset, Guernsey, Geneva, Palm Beach, South Africa, and, most recently, Ireland.
